May 2009

I was hoping May would come and go with no fan fair. But I was sure wrong about that. May started out busy and just kept up. Anyone that keeps up with our family knows that May brings High School Softball and then we start Summer Softball. This May was different than the norm for us this year. Johna has decided to hang up her cleats after high school ball. I am very sad to see this but excited for her what is in store for her next. As I have said before the season for the team was HORRIBLE, but Johna had a good season individually. The great thing about softball season family traditions come out. It has been tradition that my dad always sits in the outfield to watch the game. I think that is why Johna loves to play the outfield, she knows grandpa is close and can give tips when he can. This year we had a new addition to our cheering section. Kaesen would sit out with my dad so he could play on the grass. Lindsay came to all games she could, now that Kaesen is here, it is hard for her to come in the snow and watch.

Next came the beginning of Brandon’s baseball season. It was great to be able to watch him play. He played both 1st Base and Outfield. He is trying to live up to his “little” sister (Johna). Now that he is taller than her, he feels she is the little sister. His team the White Sox’s took 2nd in league play. They struggled in the tournament and didn’t make it past the quarter finals. Brandon is starting to come out of his shell and try new things. Which is a great thing.

This year Mother’s Day was a great day !!! This year we all went to Olive Garden for and early dinner. I was able to spend the afternoon with 3 of the Greatest Mom’s there are. Each of them teach me so much and I love them just as much. This was Lou’s first Mother’s Day and so it made it extra special.

To close out Johna’s high school softball career we had the end of the year banquet. And we finally got smart and had CafĂ© Rio cater it. It was yummy and the clean up was quick. This year all the seniors received their jersey and a signed ball from the team. It was a way to end a season.

It is seems so weird to say Johna graduated from College before High School. For the last half of her senior year she attended MATC. She wants to be a Physcial Therapist when she grows up and they have a Physical Therapy Aide program. She graduated from MATC 2 weeks before High School. She is now a State Certified Physical Therapy Aide.

The biggest event in May for our family came on May 29th . High School Graduation !!! Johna was so excited but yet nervous. She was the last person to graduate even though she was graduating with High Honors. They graduate in alphabetical order and she was the last one. My brother in law Gary came from Oregon to go her graduation. She was so excited to have him there. After graduation my mom treated us to Brick Oven for lunch. After lunch Johna went with Mike & B to see the movie UP in 3-D. Graduation night was spent with her class at Boondock’s. She was out until 3 AM which she was not happy when I woke her up at 8:30 to get ready for work.

That about sum’s May up for us. Stay tuned for June.
