A Day of Giving Back

Today is the one day out of the year I get up at 3 AM, ride in back of a cop car and shop. Today was Salt Lake County Shop with a Cop. Marc and I try every year to do this. The day starts so early, but by the end it more than worth it. We start at Little America in downtown Salt Lake where we get our kid & have breakfast then onto K-Mart for some shopping!!!

This year the K-Mart we were shopping at was on 90th South in West Jordan. The favorite part for the kids is the ride to K-Mart. For it is no ordinary ride, it's in the cop car with lights & sirens going. I always feel so bad for the guest's staying at Little America -- imagine 150 (at least) cop cars lined up with lights and sirens going. Then in percession we go down 4th South & onto I-15 to 90th South.

This year we got a 7 yr. old boy and his whole Christmas List was basic items, shoes, socks, shirts, pants etc. I was surprised their was no toys. But Marc and I couldn't let him leave without a toy or two. I always marvel at how excited they get over simple things, Hulk Shoes was the big item this year. Once Tristian found those shoes he was satisfied and didn't care about anything else except the model cop car Marc found for him.

To top the morning off each child visits with Santa and then all their gifts are wrapped. All the kids that participate in Shop with a Cop always have great hearts, they always want to get stuff for their whole family-- even the cat. By 9 AM it's all over and you are tired but worth every minute.

Marc and I leave this experience so grateful for what we have and the opportunties we have.

Family Fun

It has been almost 5 years since I have seen my cousin Brande & Mike and their kids. We always seem to miss them when they visit from California. But this year we made sure we got together. Food has to be involved when we get together, so we met at Provo Mall had lunch and let the kids off to go shopping. Sounds scary, not really. Johna took Makeal shopping, Makeal is not used to bargain shopping like Johna is but she learned quick it pays to look for a deal. Brandon and Dylan went off to look at phones, toys, books, whatever they could find as long as they were not near their sister's.

Unfortunately Lindsay messed up the good thing Brande and I started. Your suppose to have a girl first then a boy.. Don't worry we will forgive you someday :). Thanks again for a great day Brande & Lou..
